What does silence sound like?

The Peace App:

Can you hear silence? What does silence sound like? Sometimes you can be in a quiet place but your thoughts are loud.

Can you describe how thinking sounds? While your thinking may not have a sound you respond to it as if you were in a discussion. The mind uses a memory system with images and our biased thoughts decode those into a language that we use to reflect and to forecast on our experience.

Can you describe the sound of not thinking?  Not thinking involves 100% listening.  You can use your hearing to listen to the sounds right now allowing you to be in the present and fully aware.  Not even an opinionated impression can interfere with pure hearing.

Note:  Excessive loud noises can hurt your ears so practice this silence of listening when it's quieter around you.

How often are you fully aware?

When hearing correctly you will notice that you are not able to think.  Active  listening allows you the experience of being fully aware.

Active listening requires your full attention and present awareness, leaving no room for your brain to think (chatter).

If you are completely listening your mind will focus on sounds, and not thoughts.

Try it now by closing your eyes if you like and listen only

We respond to our thoughts almost all the time.  Do you have to think to breath or keep your heart pumping? Same goes for thinking. You will live and can succeed without thinking for a few good moments, remember your fully aware, that's all.

The brain cannot fully listen when it wants to comprehend something.  If you fully enter a state of hearing your brain will not be able to comprehend temporarily because it's engaged in active listening.

Thinking is an excellent quality. There are times we need to take a break from our thoughts and thinking all the time. Take a thoughtful break.  You would be amazed at what you hear without thinking a thought.

Take a moment, use your hearing only and experience the peace and enjoy the silence of thoughtlessness...
