Know what you want!
In the Coaches Corner with Aurie
I want you to have the quickest response to immediate success
in your personal and professional life. My goal is that once you know the
pleasure of this simple process of knowing what you want you will want to do it
more often.
Do you want to see more exciting results in your life? Is
there a goal that’s tugging on your heart to be fulfilled? Great! Here’s how to
start that adventure. Take that ideal and
make it a destination by putting it on the map of your mind.
Decide on the success you want first. For example, you are
about to get your performance review at work. You can go in worried about all
the things that could happen, or you can decide without the worry that you want
the meeting to be a good one. If you decide first for a good meeting most all of
your actions will carry more purpose and be aligned with what you want to
achieve.
We all want more success and less regrets in our lives. If
you can think, decide and know the outcomes you want, you will be able to see
the direction that needs to be taken because you know where you want to be.
In a professional setting it might be getting that job,
starting a new career, or getting that raise you feel you deserve because you
earned it.
The solution is thinking about what you would like to happen
first, before the meeting. Do you want to walk out peacefully? Then you most
likely will not walk in aggressively.
Doing this more often will increase your inner strength and drive
to achieve your purposes. This is better than the fear and anxiety of thinking,
‘What will happen?” Have a purpose first and then take part in what will
happen.
Let’s say there is something important that concerns you and
you are not experiencing the change you need from another. I advise the win/win
mindset as part of your outcome (another great topic).
No one needs to lose so think about how everyone can win. Value long term relationships. We won’t always
get what we want. That’s not a good
reason to jeopardize the future of those relationships that can still be
meaningful.
In hindsight some things we didn’t get were not what we
really wanted. Don’t decide to stop the adventure of your life because you
didn’t get want you want when you wanted it. Plot the next rewarding
destination for your life. Put that exciting place on the map of your mind.
You will always be better off knowing the success you want
to experience. No goal is measurable don’t judge them on size. A goal must be deeply motivating and to you. Finding the right goals for you is more fulfilling today then wandering around or hoping something good will happen to you tomorrow.
No captain of a ship sets out hoping to get where they want.
They must know where they are and where they want to go. No matter what they think will happen or what
actually will happen they will prepare and act accordingly by steering towards
their destination not away from it.
One good result is better than no results at all. Focus on
what you want to happen not on what you don’t want to happen. Don’t worry if
you make some mistakes, you’ll only learn and get better with experience.
Your thoughts have power. Now direct your thoughts and use
your mind to envision the outcome you want for any situation. Your worth it and
you can.
